year, and though they were only nineteen years of age,
believed that the Lord had graciously brought their lives together for ministry
and service in his kingdom. They both embraced the reformed faith in college.
The reality that the Lord had “a people” began to turn their hearts toward
missions. Don attended seminary for a year at Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas. Don was pastor of a Southern Baptist Church in
Oklahoma from 1982-1984. He faithfully taught the Reformed faith in the face of
much adversity and traditionalism, resulting in his dismissal.
Don moved into secular employment and in 1994 the Donell’s
moved to Greenville, South Carolina where they soon became members of Grace
Baptist Church, Taylors. Don served as an Elder. In 1997 he attended the
Reformed Baptist Missions Services convention in Mesa, AZ and heard an appeal
via a letter for reformed Baptist pastors to come and plan churches in
Argentina. After twenty years of perseverance and preparation, on April 19,
2000, Don was commissioned to missionary work in Argentina as a church planter.
Don and Gail have four children. Their oldest daughter was
born in 1979 and was married in 2000, she is now Rachel Selph. Ryan, July 2,
1982 and Amy August 19, 1984 are college students in the States. Their youngest
son Ian was born March 22, 1997 and came to them through adoption at 3 years of
age.
Today they live in Villa Carlos Paz, Argentina.
They continue with church planting and a free book distribution ministry
to more than 70 pastors in
Cordoba
and Buenos Aires province.
