In regards to leadership in the local body, Grace Reformed Baptist Church holds
to the biblical model of a plurality of leaders consisting of elders (also
called pastors, ministers and bishops), and deacons. Elders, called to lead and
feed the flock of God, should be qualified according to Scriptural principles,
and gifted for their task by the Holy Spirit. The deacons, selected to
conduct the routine business
of the church,
should also be qualified according to Scriptural principles. They are
confirmed as having those gifts and qualifications by the membership of the
Church. The number of deacons needed and the specific tasks to which they are
assigned, in order to free the elders from "serving tables", are at the
discretion of the elders. |
